FATHER’S DIVINE LOVE MINISTRIES UGANDA

DIGNITY TO THE AFRICAN CHILD

RAPHA CHILDREN'S HAVEN

Rapha Children's Haven: 58 Kids.

Where as fdlm places high value on families and would not consider putting orphaned kids in institutions, some situations prove too hostile for the orphaned and abandoned kids imprecating the viability of safe homes for children under the care of adults with a proportion of 6 kids to 1 adult. From here, they are able to go to schools nearby according to their respective classes.

They can access decent medical attention ranging from fevers to complicated sicknesses like operations. We have had emergency cases such as appendicitis and others. Considering the homes where these dear ones came from, they would not have afforded the medical bills.

Lingira island (30miles in lake victoria)

lake victoria is the second largest fresh water lake in the world with a staggering 3000 islands on it. these islands used to serve as hiding places for criminals who fled from the arm of the law after commiting crimes on the mainland. they soon became havens of lawless people who formed families, took on several sexual partners and giving the prevalence of hiv/aids a clear high way.

on this particular island, 56% of its dwellers are infected and upon arrival, one is greeted by hundreds of children among whom many are either double or single orphans, abandoned or at risk children.

FDLM started a program reaching out to these children through the provision of education, medical assistance and feeding 66 kids with a children's home in its initial stages of construction.

With Uganda having a mind disturbing 2,600,000 orphans a million of which have been directly due to aids, the need for church based orphan care is even greater.

Father' Divine Love Ministries is setting up a 3rd Orphans' home which is designed in a village setting. 8 homes are being developed on a 3 acre piece of land; each home will host a maximum of 10 kids in each full house under the care of a couple. the community will therefore host a maximum of 80 children growing up in an environment of family. we all know that family is the strongest and most import unit of society and its brokenness has generational imprecations. the solution to this is to raise up children in families and that is why FDLM can't drop the practice of modelling family rather than subjecting children under institutionalized care.

Foster care:

Most of the children with family ties are supported from their guardian families. Fdlm provides education support, medical attention, school uniforms and scholastic materials, which would otherwise hinder the education of these less privileged children.

Advocacy:

Communities in Africa still harbor what tradition used to consider as disciplining of children among which setting kids ablaze, cutting off ears, tying with ropes against trees and throwing out of the house for offenses such as not greeting elders, not kneeling before older people, eating food before meals are served etc. The prevalence of these cultural evils are what stirred fdlm to start advocacy programs to be a voice for these innocent kids battered in the name of discipline. We sensitize communities about biblically acceptable disciplinary measures as a means of restoring dignity to our communities.
